Before moving to London back in September, despite our busy lives, most evenings would end with me and mum in the kitchen together dancing, laughing, cooking or chatting – something I miss everyday…
Now, 6 months later i’m in London and we FaceTime once a week if we have the time. Despite this, we text everyday and I often send her random photos from my day such as what i’ve cooked myself for dinner or what i’ve seen out and about that day. I haven’t seen mum properly since the Christmas holidays and so it was so lovely to see her this weekend. She leads a very busy and somewhat hectic life back at home so i’m sure it was great for her to have a weekend off, so to speak.
On the Saturday morning, I took her to a vegan cafe near my flat to have a coffee and we caught up and chatted for an hour before hitting Oxford Street to go dress shopping for an event she had coming up, and to have some lunch.
That afternoon we continued to look round the shops before heading back to the hotel to have a nap before going out for dinner at Jamie Oliver’s 🙂
The next morning we walked from the hotel to Westminster before walking through St James Park towards Mayfair, as we really wanted to visit a couple of places there, the Victoria Beckham flagship store and Sketch gallery.
36 Dover Street where the store is beautifully cold and minimalist. Designed by Farshid Moussavi, the staircase is made from polished concrete and Feu de Bois candles by Diptyque are burning everywhere.
The Sketch Gallery was like nothing i’d ever seen before and I couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the day. The strangest yet most futuristic and amazing place i’d ever been! These are photos from the bathrooms – which yes, it seems everyone in London has been to and also posted identical pictures on Instagram!
The day ended with a bowl of yellow pepper soup at The Mae Deli by Deliciously Ella and a Lemongrass and Ginger tea at Covent Garden Grind before mum caught her train home 🙂
